This funky East Village vegetarian restaurant has the requisite pulsing rock music, couches to lounge on, and a few simple wooden tables. The walls are done in burnished broad stripes of yellow and orange, and an array of slightly bedraggled plants complete the picture. Owner Kate Halpern prepares four-star chili, mock popcorn shrimp with "secret sauce," grilled barbeque mock chicken, and mock shepherd`s pie seasoned with herbs and covered with mashed potatoes. It`s a comfortable place for tofu-heads and the lactose-intolerant.
