Le Bernardin

155 West 51st Street
New York, New York 10019
ph: 212.489.1515

The combined talents of chef Eric Ripert and owner Maguy LeCoze insure that dining at this somewhat sedate, teak-lined, "adult" French seafood restaurant is never short of inspiring. And how could it be otherwise, with LeCoze`s warm, Gallic welcome, her perfectly run dining room, her stylish bouquets, and her infecting joie de vivre? Ripert`s lively, herb-accented menu includes such clever combinations as black bass ceviche topped with mint, corriander, and chiles, and a seafood broth enriched with lobsters, truffles, and foie gras. Desserts hop from a light and bracing chilled orange soup to a decadent quartet of caramel confections. Best known for yellowfin tuna carpaccio with a light ginger-lime mayonnaise, this fine dining restaurant concentrates on a French cuisine an emphasis on seafood. Expect the average entrée to cost over $30, and there`s a prix-fixe menu. Plan to dress formal -- jacket is required.
