Everyone wondered what would happen to New York`s most beloved French restaurant when its most revered chef, Andre Soltner, retired. But the new owner (Mich`l Weinstein of Ark Restaurants) and the well-respected Chef Eberhard Muller are maintaining the master`s rigorous standards while updating and enlivening the menu. The dining room is demure, with a slatted, vaulted, church-like ceiling, wooden lattices, and a sweet balcony. With the menu changing daily, you might find a croissant of black truffles, whole roasted lobster with cognac butter, beef short ribs braised in dark beer, or sauteed pheasant breast over champagne sauerkraut. Private party facilities are also available.
