Since I'm from the Caribbean, I thought it would be nice to go to a Caribbean restaurant for my husband's birthday to enjoy some `Home away from home` cooking. We arrived at the Negril restaurant to a 45 minute wait. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. Dim lights, soft caribbean music playing in the background. I was definitely looking forward to a good night. We ordered appetizers and waited a little longer that we expected to finally get them. The cod fish fritters were NOT what we expected. They were half the size of Normal cod fish fritters and they charged a rediculous price for 4 on the plate. We liked the corn soup which was honestly the only GOOD thing that we ordered. If I would have known, I would have doubled up the soup and nix the entree all together. We waited an hour for our entrees to arrive. I have to say that I was very disappointed with the food. Coming from a Caribbean father and an Indian mother, I think I know what curry is supposed to taste like. The `Curry` chicken that Negril served me was a joke. The chicken was bland and the curry sauce had No Flavor at all. I added salt just to enhance the taste. My dish came with peas and rice which was luke warm by the time it arrived at my table. I was looking forward to a dish that was hot and spicy - but it was neither. We ordered drinks that were not Caribbean enough. They were rum lacking and fruit less. Paying over $200 for 4 people and not enjoying the meal/drinks was not what we expected. We could have spent far less at local restaurants in either Brooklyn or the Bronx and enjoyed ourselves a lot more. I feel that this establishment is only trying to capitalize on the Caribbean culture. This restaurant is truly insulting to Caribbean cooking!!

I would not recommend visiting this restaurant to anyone who loves caribbean food! I was very disappointed.

SIncerely, A True Caribbean!!!
