It`s a fiesta scene here, both in party decor and the rambunctious young corporate types who get even louder as they suck down potent margaritas. But pay attention to the innovative regional Mexican cuisine from owner/chef Zarela Martinez`s kitchen: rolled chicken tacos with guacamole, snapper hash with jalapenos, and a jicama, zucchini and carrot salad in chipotle vinaigrette to start. Then you can order seared tuna marinated in Oaxacan mole sauce, a half chicken braised in tequila, or a grilled skirt steak with salsa, guacamole and flour tortillas. There`s less madness in the upstairs dining room.
Zarela focuses on preparing a Mexican fare. Expect the average entrée to cost for the most part in the range of $12 to $20, and patrons dress casual, but fashionable.
Atmosphere: Table talk requires you to speak up a bit here.
More Reasons to Go: If you`re looking for entertainment, there is live guitar playing in the background at this restaurant Tuesdays through Saturdays. Zarela is great for groups and private parties.
Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner. Click for a sample menu.
