Although he`s passed on to the great clambake in the sky, prominent restauranteur and Fourth of July fireworks provider Ivar Haaglund`s legacy lives on. Ivar`s Acres of Clams began as a fish and chips stand (which is still there) and has expanded to a waterfront seafood restaurant that seats 400. Recently one of Seattle`s top chefs, Barbara Figueroa, was brought on board to work her special magic. The revamped menu includes such dishes as hazelnut pepper crusted albacore tuna with rhubarb chutney cream and Washington salmon with a Thai peanut sauce. Old favorites like the King crab platter and the two pound mound of clams with drawn butter are still very much in evidence, as well.
Go to Acre`s Of Clams for a restaurant that serves up an American fare known for their seafood and steaks. Expect the average entrée to cost between $12 and $20, and generally, people go dressed casual.
