At age eleven Harold Legaux started working in his father`s restaurant kitchen, which he continues to do today in his restaurant off Crenshaw called Harold & Belle`s. A vine-covered building houses this New Orleans style bistro that brings those homey southern flavors to downtown. Floral wallpaper, soft lighting and etched glass dividing tables set off the mauve and green interior. Candles and flowers brighten your place setting as do the flavors of crawfish atofay, southern fried chicken and not to miss po` boys.
Serving a southern American fare, this is a place. Expect the average entrée to cost $12 to $20, and people are quite appropriate when dressed casual.
Atmosphere: enhanced by displayed artwork and flowers at the tables, and the lighting is set quite dim. Tables are covered with linen tableclothes. The place is comfortable and relaxed and patroned by all kinds of people.
