It is easy to walk past the sign without realizing that one flight up is a formal steak house with old-fashioned charm. Sirloin, filet mignon, veal chops and double loin lamb chops are featured on the menu, along with calves liver, surf & turf, and filet of sole. Traditional appetizers are light enough to enjoy before a steak: tomato with Bermuda onion, pimentos and anchovies; shrimp cocktail; and blue point oysters. This is New York`s oldest established former speakeasy; in a tip of the hat to Temperance days, the menu lists a selection of coffee drinks.
Stop in Frankie And Johnny`s for a steakhouse that concentrates on American meals an emphasis on steaks. Expect the average entrée to cost $12 to $20, and there`s a prix-fixe menu. Plan to dress casual.
Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner. Click for a sample menu. There is also a prix-fixe menu available.
Details to Note: Reservations are accepted.
Ways to Pay: Cash, MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Diners Club
