In the summer, business-style 20- and 30-somethings practically fall out onto the street from the open store-front of this singles` bar/eaterie. PJ Clark`s appeals both to young yuppies as well as older locals for whom it is the best bet for a burger or salad. The food is solid American fare, and the atmosphere is that of an authentic saloon, with an imposing dark wood bar, deep private booths, and tin ceiling. The hash browns are served family style, and if you sit in the upstairs section, you can catch the Bulls game on the bar TV. Single-malt scotch is well represented at the bar, where you can select from a dozen great beers on tap or 20 bottled beers.
P.j. Clarke`s focuses on a traditional American cuisine. Expect the average entrée to cost $8 to $12, and you`ll be appropriate if dressed casual, but fashionable.
