This bluesy little living room is crammed with mismatched tables and chairs, odd thrift shop paintings, and old lamps giving off mellow light. The restaurant is filled with a casual, bookish East Village crowd munching on big salads, bulky sandwiches, and tasty pizzas with unusual twists (white pie with goat cheese and spinach, for example). It`s all nicely cheap, with brunch an especially good deal. Sometimes the smoke can get a bit thick.
Café Gigi serves American cooking with a menu based largely on pizza and sandwiches. Expect the average entrée to cost $8 to $12.
